Salt Lake City ordinance
in
Chapter 14.38 Sidewalk Entertainment and Artists, the Sidewalk Entertainers and Artist Registration is designed to encourage artists and
entertainers to express themselves and create a festive
atmosphere within the city. Sidewalk art, as defined in
the ordinance, may be displayed
and sidewalk entertainment may be performed only upon
predetermined city property. It is unlawful to perform and or
sell art on City property without registering with the City.

Vending Cart Permit
A Vending Cart Permit is a
Permit that allows a Business Owner to sell food or other goods
from a vending cart within the public right-of-way as
established by
Salt Lake City ordinance in
Chapter 5.65 Vending Carts. Goods that
can be sold from an approved cart include food, balloons,
flowers, and newspapers. Vending cart design must be
approved by the city and the vending cart permit is granted for
a specific location. The vending cart and its customers
must not impede the free flow of pedestrian traffic along the
right-of-way.

Residential Revocable Permits
A Residential Revocable Permit is a permit granted to a private residential property
owner which allows them to encroach on City-owned property.
Approved encroachments would include property improvements like
fencing, retaining walls, steps and railings, and ramps.
Revocable permits are granted with the understanding that the
property owner would be required to remove the improvements at
their own expense in the event the city needed the encroached
property for a Public project.

Outdoor Dining Permit
An Outdoor Dining Permit,
established by
Salt Lake City ordinance in
Chapter 21A.40.065 Outdoor Dining, is a
permit granted to business owners that serve food and beverage.
The permit allows the business owner to set up tables and chairs
within the public right-of-way adjacent to their business and
conduct business within this public space. The business
owner is required to comply with all laws regulating the
consumption of alcohol and applicable health standards.
Additionally, the business owner is required to remove the
tables and chairs from the public right-of-way at the close of
business every day.

Telecommunication Right-of-way Permit
The use of the right-of-way
for installation of telecommunications facilities (conduit or
bare cables) for entities not providing end service to customers
within the City is governed by
Salt Lake City ordinance in
Chapter
14.32.425 Telecommunication Right-of-way Permit and the
subsequent amendment to the ordinance. The ordinance
is identical for all entities, whether crossing or paralleling
the right-of-way to connect communications within a single
business operation or crossing the entire City to provide a
"backbone" for other companies offering retail services.
