Salt Lake City Recycling and Waste Services

Salt Lake City currently recycles or composts 33% of the waste collected from residents. Our goal is to recycle 50% of the residential waste by 2015. We have structured our Recycling and Waste Services to meet this goal.

All of Salt Lake City's Recycling and Waste Services are available for single family, duplex, and triplex residential units within Salt Lake City boundaries. The monthly Recycling and Waste Service fee is based on the size of garbage container, and includes all of the following services:

Weekly Garbage Collection
Weekly Recycling Service
Weekly Yard Waste Recycling (AND Christmas Tree Collection)
Annual Neighborhood Cleanup
Glass Drop Off Recycling

Fees (effective October 1, 2010)

Type of Container Monthly Fee per container
90-gallon Garbage $17.25
60-gallon Garbage $15.00
40-gallon Garbage $13.75
90-gallon Yard Waste (tan) Included
90-gallon Curbside Recycling (blue) Included

Holidays

Weekly garbage collection, curbside recycling, and yard waste collection are provided on all holidays EXCEPT:

New Year's Day, January 1
Thanksgiving Day, 4th Thursday of November
Christmas Day, December 25

Collection will be delayed by one day following holidays listed above, for the remainder of that week. The collection schedule will not be affected by holidays that fall on a weekend.
