The Transportation Division mission is to provide a safe and efficient multi-modal transportation system for the movement of people and goods and for the vitality of the community.
What we do
The Transportation Division is responsible for the determination of necessity and the placement of all traffic control devices on Salt Lake City streets.
Traffic control devices are signs, markings, signals, lighting and other devices used to guide, control, and inform travelers in the public right of way.

Effective July 1, 2010, payments made in cash will no longer be accepted by the Transportation Division. Any cash payments will need to be made at room 225 of the City & County Building, 451 South State, Salt Lake City, Utah. Payments made by check or credit card will still be accepted by the Transportation Division. We are sorry for any inconvenience this change causes.
